Malliotakis Announces Winners of 2021 Congressional Art Competition

(STATEN ISLAND, NY) – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today announced Staten Island resident Jemma Parsons who attends Xaverian High School has won the 2021 Congressional Art Competition for New York’s 11th Congressional District. Parsons’ piece, entitled ‘Bohemian Waxing Bird,’ will be displayed in the Capitol for one year alongside the winners from each Congressional District.  

The runner-up for this year’s competition, Brooklyn resident Emily Shteynberg who attends Staten Island Technical High School, will have her piece ‘Girl with Sweet Cherries,’ displayed in Malliotakis’ Washington, D.C. office for one year.  

“I was proud to congratulate both Jemma and Emily for winning this year’s Congressional Art Competition,” said Congresswoman Malliotakis. “Both students are extremely talented artists and well-deserving of this honor. I’m delighted they chose to share their talents with us, and look forward to celebrating their achievements in person come fall.”
